CSPriceAPI vs cs2.sh for CS2 Price Data

Short answer: every market cs2.sh covers, plus 7 more. CSPriceAPI covers 13 marketplaces from $50/month; cs2.sh covers 6 from $75/month. CSPriceAPI adds the full YouPin buy-order book, per-sale float and pattern data, and a 2-day test key created instantly in Discord. cs2.sh concentrates on longer and intraday history for its six markets. Both allow 10 requests per second on every plan, with no monthly request cap.

cs2.sh supports BUFF, YouPin, CSFloat, Skinport, Steam and C5Game, and CSPriceAPI covers all six of them. EcoSteam, SkinBaron, Market.CSGO, LIS-SKINS, DMarket, ShadowPay and Waxpeer are only available on CSPriceAPI. If your bot, tool or valuation needs any of those markets, cs2.sh can't supply them.

cs2.sh's homepage promises "full bid/ask prices for all marketplaces"; its own data coverage page lists no bid for Skinport, so it returns a buy order on 5 of its 6 markets.

Market-by-market coverage

The first six rows are markets both APIs cover. The next seven are listing markets only CSPriceAPI covers. cs2.sh's data coverage page lists exactly six marketplaces, and its own CSPriceAPI alternatives page names DMarket, Waxpeer, LIS-SKINS, ShadowPay, Market.CSGO and SkinBaron as venues it does not cover.

CSPriceAPI returns the same JSON schema for every listing market, so adding DMarket price data or Waxpeer to a BUFF integration is a change to the markets CSV, not a new parser. CSPriceAPI's daily price history goes back 1 year or more on every listing market except Steam, plus Skinland, which is available as history only.

Where CSPriceAPI is stronger

  • Market breadth: 13 live listing markets vs 6. CSPriceAPI covers all six of cs2.sh's markets plus EcoSteam, SkinBaron, Market.CSGO, LIS-SKINS, DMarket, ShadowPay and Waxpeer. If you run arbitrage between Chinese and Western venues, those seven markets are usually where the spreads are.
  • Lower entry price, with the Steam order book included. Basic costs $50 and includes all 13 markets plus the in-depth Steam order book. cs2.sh's entry plan is $75 for six markets.
  • YouPin buy-order depth. GET /v1/prices/youpin/buyorder returns the whole YouPin buy-order book in CNY, refreshed about every 30 minutes (Pro), not only the top bid. Enterprise adds every individual buy order with its float, phase, Fade or tier condition via GET /v1/prices/youpin/float-buyorder, filterable by an exact float value. See YouPin buy-order and float data.
  • Sales with full item detail. Each sale from YouPin, CSFloat and Skinport includes phase, paint index, pattern seed, stickers, charms and float. cs2.sh's public archive endpoints return aggregated sale prices and volumes. cs2.sh says listing-level data is available through private endpoints on its Enterprise plan.
  • A trial without waiting. Both trials last 2 days. CSPriceAPI's test key is created instantly in the #get-testkey Discord channel and covers every endpoint except price history (sales: last 24 hours). cs2.sh's trial is a Developer-plan key, requested via sign-up and a Discord ticket, which covers latest-price endpoints.
  • A Chrome extension. The CSPriceAPI extension shows cross-market prices directly on marketplace listing pages and has a free tier.
  • Web tools. Price comparison and the Market Hub run on the same data, for traders who don't want to write code.
  • An MCP server for AI assistants. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code can query CSPriceAPI directly through its MCP server (listed in the official MCP Registry as com.cspriceapi/mcp). cs2.sh documents no MCP server; its llms.txt points agents to OpenAPI and an agent card.
  • Per-phase Doppler on 13 markets. Both APIs price Doppler Phase 1–4, Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl, and Gamma Doppler Phase 1–4 and Emerald, per phase. CSPriceAPI does it on 13 markets, cs2.sh on 6. CSPriceAPI also covers Fade percentages and Blue Gem items.

cs2.sh's limits to know before you buy

All of these come from cs2.sh's own pricing and documentation pages (accessed 2026-10-09):

  • Six markets only. No DMarket, Waxpeer, LIS-SKINS, ShadowPay, Market.CSGO, SkinBaron or EcoSteam. cs2.sh's own CSPriceAPI alternatives page names these as venues it doesn't cover.
  • History and sales start at $200/month. The $75 Developer plan covers latest prices; price history, sale history and CSFloat orderbooks are on the $200 Scale plan.
  • The trial doesn't cover history or sales. cs2.sh's 2-day key is a Developer-plan key, so you can't test the history or sales endpoints before paying for Scale.
  • Sales are aggregated. The public archive endpoints return aggregated sale prices and volumes. Listing-level data is only offered through private endpoints on the custom-priced Enterprise plan.
  • OHLC history starts on 24 December 2025. Older data is limited to archive bid/ask (since 2023) and aggregated sales.
  • No bid on Skinport. Skinport returns ask data only, although the homepage promises bid/ask for all marketplaces.
  • No browser extension is documented.

What cs2.sh offers on top

  • Intraday OHLC down to 5-minute buckets, and longer aggregated sale archives: Steam median sales since April 2013, CSFloat since 2022.
  • Bid next to ask in each market object on five of its six markets, and CSFloat buy-order books on Scale.
  • Batch history requests of up to 100 items per POST, and conversion into USD or nine other currencies.

Do rate limits make a difference?

Not for current prices. As of September 2026, both APIs allow 10 requests per second on every plan with no monthly cap. History backfills are where the request models differ.

  • Full-snapshot polling: one GET /v1/prices/latest returns the whole CSPriceAPI catalogue: every item's current prices on the listing markets your key allows, plus average, change % and liquidity. Steam prices and the order book come from a second call, GET /v1/steam. cs2.sh's GET /v1/prices/latest also returns its full current dataset. Both refresh about every 5 minutes, so a few requests per cycle is enough on either API.
  • Per-item lookups: POST batches hold up to 100 items on both APIs. Re-pricing 45,000 items takes 450 requests, about 45 seconds at 10 per second on either API.
  • History backfills: CSPriceAPI's GET /v1/prices/{market}/history takes one market_hash_name per request, so a backfill costs one request per skin per market. cs2.sh's history endpoints take up to 100 items per POST, with a maximum date range per interval. For large backfills, cs2.sh needs fewer requests.

Choose CSPriceAPI if…

  • You trade or build tools across DMarket, Waxpeer, LIS-SKINS, ShadowPay, Market.CSGO, SkinBaron or EcoSteam.
  • You need current prices for 13 markets plus a Steam order book at the lowest monthly cost ($50).
  • You need the full YouPin buy-order book or float-ranged buy orders for spread or instant-sell analysis.
  • You want per-sale float, pattern seed, paint index, sticker and charm data rather than aggregated sale averages.
  • You want to test buy orders, float-ranged prices and recent sales before you pay, with a key you get instantly.
  • Your team trades from the browser and wants a Chrome extension on the same data.

cs2.sh can make sense if you only need its six markets and specifically need intraday OHLC or sale archives from before 2025.

Things that change in your code:

  1. Currency. cs2.sh returns USD by default. CSPriceAPI returns each market's native currency (CNY, EUR or USD) and has no USD-normalised endpoint, so add FX conversion on your side.
  2. Field names. cs2.sh's ask/ask_volume correspond to our price (the lowest active listing) and count. There is no bid field; buy-side data comes from the YouPin buy-order endpoint and the Steam order book.
  3. Steam. cs2.sh returns Steam inside prices/latest. On CSPriceAPI, call GET /v1/steam separately.
  4. Doppler. cs2.sh nests phases in a variants object under the base item. On CSPriceAPI each phase is its own entry: the phase is appended to the market_hash_name after the exterior, e.g. ★ Karambit | Doppler (Factory New) (Ruby), and the row carries a phase field. Match on market_hash_name + phase.
  5. Keys. Both key items by Steam market_hash_name, so your item mapping carries over, apart from the Doppler phase suffix above.
  6. Throttling. Current-price polling needs no change: both allow 10 requests per second. Prefer one full GET over many POSTs. History backfills need one request per skin per market.

Moving the other way? cs2.sh documents its endpoints in its llms.txt index. We don't reproduce them here.

FAQ

Does cs2.sh cover DMarket, Waxpeer or SkinBaron?

No. As of September 2026, cs2.sh lists six marketplaces: BUFF, Youpin, CSFloat, Skinport, Steam and C5Game. Its own alternatives page names these venues as ones it does not cover.

Which has higher rate limits?

Neither. Both allow 10 requests per second on every plan, with no monthly request cap. cs2.sh offers custom limits on its Enterprise plan.

Which is cheaper?

For current multi-market prices, CSPriceAPI: $50 vs $75. For "everything", the two are close: cs2.sh Scale is $200, CSPriceAPI Enterprise is $225. They contain different data, so compare the tables above.

Is there a free option?

Neither has a permanent free API plan. CSPriceAPI offers a free 2-day test key, created instantly in the #get-testkey Discord channel (every endpoint except price history; sales data limited to the last 24 hours). cs2.sh offers a free 2-day Developer-plan key after sign-up via a Discord ticket, plus a no-key demo.
